Noor - A gift for the future

There she is: Noor van Amstel! Doesn't she look great? And the baby too! ;)

These are two pictures of the little gift I gave to the family that offered me to make their Baby-card (which can be found two posts earlier)! It's a modified version of the 'Noor'-ambigram I designed and printed it on a little t-shirt :) I hope she'll like it in the future, it's much too big for her now (even though the shirt is pretty small)! :D

Hi, Martijn, it's been quite a while since our last onlice chat. Hopw things are going very well for you..

Just an interesting thing to share. 'Noor' or 'Nur' is a very common female Arabic and Malay name. In Arabic, it means 'light' as in opposite of 'dark' not opposite of 'heavy'.

Wondering what it means in Dutch?

Anyway, a Malay version of Martijn is Matin or Martin.. :)

salam,
nagfa

Hello Naguib and Fadilah!

It's nice to hear from you again! :) Things are going pretty well at the moment (also ambigram-wise), but as I'll be in France the next 1,5 months, I won't be able to finish any designs and post them :'(

As for the name 'Noor': the parents chose the name because of its meaning :) They read about it in a book by Khaled Hosseini and wrote one of its phrases on the back of the card I designed for them: "Jij bent de noor van mijn ogen" (You are the light of my eyes). It doesn't mean anything in Dutch, though!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :D You'll be hearing more from me when I get back from France, that's a promise!

Take care!

Martijn
